My inspiration book

The Bagscout
28 January 2019

inspiration bookLast year I already wrote an article about mood boards (you can read it back here) . That I love making them ever since I was little and that I also find it very therapeutic. I also told you I started an inspiration book. I hereby want to share my thoughts with you why I think it’s a very good idea for you to start a inspiration book too!

Why I think you should start one too

I started this book, because I wanted to write down the way I would like to present myself. I’m always asking myself the question “what would they like to tell us?”. Same goes for myself. You know I love Insta, but I don’t want to post random stuff. I want to tell you something, show you the real me. So I started writing down my core values and the personal characteristics I want to add to the things I share. For instance one of my core values is always being authentic and a thing I like to show is the fact that I don’t like taking life to seriously. From there I started collecting images, quotes, you name it. But it all says something about me. For example Insta accounts I really love or quotes from strong woman about wearing whatever you like. Good intentions

good intentions The BagscoutHappy new year!! Pfff, suddenly it’s 2019! Don’t you feel like 2018 passed by in a blink of an eye? Insane. But hey, time flies when you are having fun. 2018 was a busy and rather stressful year for me. I finished another study successfully, found a new house, moved in with the boyfriend and sold my old home (of course you already know everything about it, but you can read it here or here). To be honest I’m looking forward to this new year which will hopefully will be a bit more relaxed. And of course a new year means it’s time for some always returning good intentions also!

Goals or good intentions?

I have to admit I’m not a big fan of good intentions by the beginning of a new year. It’s a bit nonsense I always think. I mean you can quit smoking in June too if you want. And it doesn’t have to be January the first to leave the cookie jar alone. But I do think it’s a good thing to set yourself some goals every now and then. And so did I. And accidentally it’s a new year ;-). So for the first time in my life I have good intentions. Continue reading Good intentions

Finally done moving

The Bagscout
28 November 2018

Finally done moving (The Bagscout)Joe joe! A little sign of life from my side. So last month was all about moving, getting used to the new house and selling the old one (you can read my earlier post about is wonderful serene situation here). I was (and still am a bit) exhausted! So hence the silence. But you can’t feel sorry for yourself the whole time, haha, so here I’m again.

Moving from old to new

I considered moving to my new house as exhausting and emotional too. I lived in my old house all by myself for nine years and it was my own girlie place. So I had a hard time with it. To be honest, I cried for a whole week. But last week I sold it to a girl with the same age I had when I moved in to my previous apartment, so I’m glad it stays that way.

Now I moved to an apartment with much more space on a beautiful location in Amsterdam Noord, but since we got more space, the living room is very empty too atm. We still need a dining table, chairs, a way bigger couch and a lot of other things. So it still needs to get cozy (it’s “gezellig” in Dutch, but there is not really a word for it, haha. It’s like the Danish “ Hygge”) and the boy and I got very cranky every now and then. We spent whole sundays in furniture shopping malls. But we are getting there. Step by step. And good news, this tower is my new daily view and I think it will never bore me.

So I didn’t had much time lately to shoot content and I was so braindead that I didn’t had the inspiration to even write one decent sentence. But as you see, it’s getting better, haha. I did some shooting with my girl Lil last weekend which gave me energy and once you start writing, the rest will come naturally. I even got some new ideas too. But first a holiday! The boy and I have decided we need some sun, so we will be flying to Cape Verde this Friday. First some relaxing, reading a shitload of magazines and sunny pictures, and after that I’ll be back again with a lot of fashion, bags and myself hahah.

See you soon!

Lots of love Mandy

Personal note: a new home!

The Bagscout
24 October 2018

The Bagscout new homeJoe joe! A little personal note this week. I’ve been a little MIA every now and then lately, but of course everything happens for a reason: I found myself a new home! Okay the boy and I found ourselves a new home. We are going to live together for the first time, so excited! So from next week on it will be team Smit & De Groot. We are going to live in Amsterdam-Noord, on the other side of the water (het IJ), which is booming at the moment.

New home vs old one

But everyone who has moved before knows, it’s a lot of work and we don’t even live there yet. And I still got my own place that I have to sell, which is stressful. Anyways, I think it’s stressful, very stressful. It doesn’t work out the way I had in mind, like always with this kind of things. We still have to sign the contract of our new home, while we get the key next week. Continue reading Personal note: a new home!

Only happy vibes

The Bagscout
7 August 2018

happy vibesI have noticed that, considering the volatile and stressful world we live in nowadays, I more and more am looking for some happy vibes. Not only in life, but also in clothes and style. In the early days of my 20’s I easily struggled myself into a pencil skirt like Kim K, but nowadays I already have trouble breathing when I think about it, haha.

Loose fit

I like some comfort with a certain feeling. A bit bohemian, but not too hippie. And with too hippie I mean that whole Ibiza vibe with dozens of fringes, ruffles and ten thousand bracelets. That’s fun when you actually are in Ibiza, but not in down to earth Holland. I’m that girl with a long skirt and a jumper. Or a legging, dr. Martens, an oversized t-shirt and a big burgundy furry coat. But unfortunately I cannot wear that kind of outfits on a daily base. Although I think I’m the only legal secretary who walks barefoot at the office, haha. Continue reading Only happy vibes

The Bagscout 2.0

The Bagscout
25 July 2018

The BagscoutGuess who’s bahack? Good news……………I finished my study successfully! Whoop Whoop! I had to post this article a little later than I had in mind, because the last part of my study really sucked all the energy out of me. I really wasn’t able to think anymore for a few days! No energy, a major lack of inspiration, not good. It took me about a week and a half to manage chilling again. Who reckon relaxing can be so hard. But hey, slowly it’s coming back, and guess what……….. I have got spare time again! So time to spice this blog up. The Bagscout 2.0, here we come!

New goals for The Bagscout

I just started making new plans for this blog. Maybe starting a blog and a study at the same time not might have been very convenient, because I didn’t had the time to make a decent plan. And some idea’s just didn’t work out the way I had in mind. But that’s okay, it’s a learning process ;-).

Since I call myself The Bagscout, I got to write about bags, don’t you think. Unfortunately, I didn’t had time to go to a store or didn’t feel like getting inspired by other things the last months, so the bags disappeared a bit to the background. I’m sorry for that, but I will repack myself with fresh energy.

From this day on I will post two articles a week, at least that’s my intention. #goals! And yes, I promise one of those weekly articles will be about bags ;-). If you have a suggestion or a subject you would like to know more about, just leave a comment, send me an e-mail or a DM on Instagram. I would love to know more about your interests too!

Ooooh, and if I’m correctly, I’ve got a new subscribe plugin that actually works! So if you like me to keep you posted about new blog posts, just leave your e-mail and you will be the first to know.

Lots of love, Mandy

Moodboards

The Bagscout
31 May 2018

moodboardsI love making moodboards! Ever since I was little I collect magazines and tear out everything I like. Fashion, interior, people, flowers, it doesn’t matter. I have this weird quality that I can fall in love with images and that can really be everything. A beautiful coloured painting or flowers, you name it. I truly can get moved by an image. No wonder I love Instagram and Pinterest that much. Images all day, everyday.

When I was young I had a bulletin board, lots of scrapbooks and my closet was covered with (mostly) beauty campaigns. And I was always busy with magazines. Now I’m in my thirties and I still collect magazines and images. When I left my parental house and bought my own house, I also made moodboards. One for my bedroom, bathroom and living room. It’s a bit scary when you going to live on your own, but this made it real and excited. I finally was able to decide by myself how my house would look like and now I finally could visualize it. The Bagscout at Young Urban Sound

The Bagscout
9 May 2018

Young Urban SoundLast Friday I had my radio debut! Yes, you read it correctly, I did my first radio interview ever. The Young Urban Sound invited me to talk about my blog and interrogated me about tips and tricks when it comes to designer bags.

A pretty big thing for someone who doesn’t like to be in the spotlights, I can tell you. Luckily for me it was radio and not television, haha. I must say, I really was a bit proud of myself. From not wanting to start a blog, because “everybody has a blog nowadays, who wants to hear my stuff” to telling about my passion on the radio. I think that everyone who puts themselves out there is insecure at certain moments. You really want people to love what you love so much. And sometimes I’m even a bit scared that someone will stand up and tells me that I’m talking nonsense. Despite the fact that I know that I’m not talking BS and I know what I’m talking about. Getting out of your comfort zone, they call it I guess. Pfff pretty scary sometimes, haha. Continue reading The Bagscout at Young Urban Sound

Holiday issues

19 April 2018

holiday The BagscoutYoehoe I’m bahack! If you follow me on Insta, you couldn’t have missed that I was enjoying Curacao for a holiday. One very happy and colourful island in the Caribbean Sea, so a sh*tload of yellow and pink (don’t worry, I’ve got a more to show, haha) passed your screen. We even had a blue house!

First world problems

In the first week of the holiday, my true Insta friend Sofie asked me why I wasn’t posting so many pictures. Besides the fact that I was on a holiday and I told myself not to think about Instagram ‘opportunities’ all the time ( which was super hard. For me and the boyfriend haha), there was another reason. I always look horrible in the first week of my holidays! No joke. I don’t know what happens, but I really don’t look like me in the beginning.

Suddenly it’s a lot hotter than it is at home and the combination of sweat and sunscreen turns my face into a “krentenbol” (probably you don’t speak Dutch, but Google it, you will know what I mean). Pimples all over the place! Not one or two, no a whole chin full. So selfies? Not an option. Continue reading Holiday issues

This blog needs your help!

The Bagscout
7 March 2018

Blog The BagscoutYou all know by now that I study Online Communication and at the moment I’m writing my exam for the Social Media part. I’m creating a Social Media strategy for my blog, because I really would like to step up my game a bit. The same goes for my Instagram. I’m thinking about some new ways of content and suddenly it came up to me, maybe you can help me!

This study takes a lot of time and I really don’t want to neglect the blog and you of course. But sometimes I just have a lack of inspiration and not enough time for shooting pictures and stuff. So I really need a decent plan. I started this blog for the love of handbags, but I sometimes feel the need to share some other things too. And I don’t mean serious stuff. Just some fun stuff related to fashion, beauty and typical girl talk. The main subject still will be handbags, but with some ‘sideways’. So my question is, are you open to that?

I’m all about inspire other people and I always see a lot of things I would like to share, but I also want to create a consistent blog. Not a bunch of random stuff. So here are some questions and idea’s:

  1. Would you like to read some more ‘personal’ stuff about me? For instance where do I shop, what are my favorite products or brands? A Q&A or something?
  2. Would you like some beauty talk?
  3. Or discuss fashion icons and streetstyle heroes?
  4. What would you like to see more on the blog?
  5. Are there things you don’t like about the blog that I can change?
  6. What do you think about reviews of fashion related books?
  7. Or do you just only love to read about handbags? And if that’s the case what would you like to read more about them on the blog?

It means a lot to me to if you will leave a comment with your opinion or suggestions, it would really help me!

Lots of Love, Mandy
