Louis Vuitton New Wave Bag

New Wave Bag Louis VuittonAs you know I’m not that big of a fan of Louis Vuitton, so I’m a little late with this anouncement, haha. Probably you already know there is a new kid in town: the New Wave Bag. And since I’m all about giving everything a chance, here’s my opininion about this 80’s kid.

The New Wave Bag

The New Wave Bag is not a typical Louis Vuitton bag. The bags are inspired by the 80’s music trend “New Wave” and available in various, bold, colours with names like Malibu Green and Smoothie Pink. Of course also available in the classic colours black, red and white. There’s no New Wave Bag with a monogram, but ofcourse it’s not easy to miss the LV logo. It’s pretty in your face.

The bag is available in two sizes, a chain bag and a tote, is made from quilted lambskin and has two straps. The long strap is a chain so you can wear it over your shoulder or cross body. You can also use it as a handbag through the short strap which contains Vuitton in coloured letters. The tote only has a logo and no coloured letters.

I have to admit in the case of Louis Vuitton, this is something new and I can appreciate that. I always consider Louis Vuitton bags as a bit boring. These chain bags are colourful and playful. A whole new target audience will feel adressed I think, since the Louis Vuitton New Wave bag has a much younger vibe than most of their bags.

Too much

But I also think they look a bit tacky. I’m sorry I can’t help it, but it’s too much, too flashy. I know, it sounds weird from someone who thinks the classics are boring. It’s because of the combination of and a bold colour, coloured letters, a golden logo and a golden chain I think. I think the tote is pretty, but in my opinion it looks a bit too much like the YSL LouLou. Maybe the New Wave Bag looks badass on the right person, but it’s not for me. I think me and LV are just not a perfect match.
